How can you effectively limit your exposure to electromagnetic waves?

Antenne relais, source importante d'ondes électromagnétique (5G, 4G, ...)

Wireless technologies are everywhere: cell phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, connected objects, etc. Each of these devices emits electromagnetic waves that pass through our homes, our workplaces, and sometimes even... our bodies! While it's not always possible to eliminate everything, there are many solutions to reduce your exposure and achieve a healthier environment.

Here, in detail, are all the actions and reflexes to adopt on a daily basis :

1. Favor wired connections

Why? Wi-Fi constantly broadcasts waves throughout the space. A wired connection (Ethernet cable) does not broadcast any waves when Wi-Fi is turned off.

How to do it?

  • Connect your computer or television directly to the modem via an RJ45 cable.
  • Disable WiFi on the box: most internet boxes allow you to turn off this function via the administration interface or a button.
  • If you need WiFi, use it only when necessary and unplug/turn it off the rest of the time.

2. Turn off the internet box and WiFi at night

Why? The body needs rest to regenerate, and at night, it is more sensitive to external aggressions, including waves.

How to do it?

  • Turn off the box and WiFi completely (not just "stay on standby").
  • Plug the box into a programmable outlet or timer, so it automatically turns off and on at set times.
  • Make your bedroom a radio-free sanctuary! Avoid using connected devices (radio, alarm clock, e-reader, etc.) in your bedroom.

3. Keep connected devices away from resting areas

Why? The closer you are to a wave source, the more strongly you experience it.

How to do it?

  • Keep at least 1 to 2 meters of distance between your bed and any connected object: phone charging, box, tablet, Bluetooth speaker, etc.
  • Never sleep with your phone under your pillow or on your nightstand unless absolutely necessary (and in that case, in airplane mode!).
  • In the living room or office, move the box, laptop, or tablet away from your extended stay areas.

4. Limit phone calls and use suitable equipment

Why? During a call, the phone is closest to your brain and emits at its maximum.

How to do it?

  • Favor text messages or short calls.
  • Use a wired hands-free kit (avoid Bluetooth) or speakerphone to keep the phone away from your body.
  • Use a landline phone for long conversations at home.

5. Turn on airplane mode as soon as possible

Why? In airplane mode, the device no longer emits waves (except for some models which sometimes keep Bluetooth or GPS active: check your device carefully).

How to do it?

  • Activate airplane mode whenever you no longer need to be connected, such as at night, on public transport or during screen-free activities.
  • If you keep your mobile near you during the day, put it on airplane mode to avoid continuous exposure.

6. Disable Bluetooth, WiFi and geolocation when not in use

Why? These wireless connections sometimes run in the background without your knowledge.

How to do it?

  • Disable features you don't immediately need.
  • On your devices, check and disable automatic detection or scanning of nearby networks.

7. Ventilate and ventilate regularly

Why? Electromagnetic pollution accumulates less in well-ventilated spaces, and this also improves air quality.

How to do it?

  • Open the windows wide every day, for at least a few minutes, even in winter.
  • If possible, turn off connected devices during this time.

8. Minimize the number of connected objects

Why? Every connected object (watch, speaker, camera, light bulb, etc.) emits waves continuously.

How to do it?

  • Keep only the essentials, avoid the superfluous.
  • Unplug or turn off connected objects when not in use.
  • Favor wired options when they exist.

9. Adopt specific protections to reduce exposure

Why? Some products can filter, reflect, or absorb waves without affecting quality of life.

How to do it?

  • Install curtains, clothing or protective sheets made from special fabrics (based on metal fibers).
  • Use anti-wave paints, films or nets for walls, windows or strategic devices (be careful to ventilate well, because the Faraday cage also retains air!).
  • Choose certified screen or phone protectors.
  • Place baby alarms or other sensitive objects as far away from the sleeper as possible.

10. Treat yourself to “wave-free” moments

Why? Mental and physical rest sometimes requires a technology-free environment.

How to do it?

  • Give yourself some time every day without a device (walking, meditation, grounding, yoga, etc.).
  • Take children outside to play away from antennas, networks and screens.
  • Practice grounding regularly: walk barefoot in the grass, lie on the ground, or use grounding mats to take full advantage of the Earth's calming energy.
